Not sure if un-mounting a partition would make a difference… As i have always used unpartitioned drives for Audio.. Partitioning a HD actually makes the HD work much harder and reduces it’s performance… I’ve never heard of this issue and at the moment my 2TB drive used for audio recording is partitioned into two 1TB partitions. Just one last question regarding n6smith’s comment that the audio drive should not be partitioned. The interface has long been the “forgotten” mass market, high-speed interface standard. Previously available in Firewire 400 or 800 flavors, it has gradually fallen in popularity as USB 2.0 and 3.0 has surged.
